I have worked as a journalist, reporter, radio and television presenter and documentary producer throughout my career and interviewed thousands of people on screen, over radio and for print.
The key to crafting a powerful story in an interview based format is active listening. A great interviewer listens to both to what is said and what is not said and responds in a considered fashion. Yes, we dig, but not imposing on the guest and having empathy for the human you are engaging in conversation is critical.
